well, just received a call regarding withdrawal symptoms
from opiate meds. woman was in a serious car accident
and has been on morphine and codeine meds for 2-3 weeks
After begining to feel sick she abruptly stopped taking the
meds.
she suffers from several broken bones including the femur
the pelvis and several ribs. obviously she is feeling very
bruised.
within 24 hrs of ceasing the meds she began to suffer hot/cold
waves with anxiety and panic. she shakes all over. "freaked out"
wants to tear out someone's eyes; wants to strike someone;
she just wants to die; then she breaks down and cries.
these waves come about every couple of hours and last about 5 minutes each.
she cant sleep because of these attacks. today these episodes are
coming more frequently, but are not as intense as yesterday when
they began.
she has also begun to recall the accident and images of it
keep returning and she keeps seeing more and more of it.
it seems to me that she is feeling the emotional impact of the
accident now that she is off the opiates. and it is hard to
evaluate the symptoms of withdrawal. considering the late hour,
i suggested trying some arnica 200c which was available which
might take the edge off the trauma, but tomorrow when pharmacies
are open, she was told to get some aconite 1M.
has anyone ever used multiple remedies in a situation like this. i would like
to get her on symph asap with all the broken bones.
