Hi

My mother in law has recently been diagnosed with Dementia. She is in her 70
s. Has anyone had any experience treating this or Alzheimers with
Homoeopathy? If so ....what sort of responses?

Thankyou

Deb Howard

I have a mother in law with Alzheimer's. This is different than dementia.
Firstly Gingko Herbal tincture is said to work as well as the allopathic
Aricept. I find it difficult to treat my mother in law because she is unable
to tell me how she feels and what is wrong. One success I did have was when
she went through the common symptom of thinking that her son was stealing
money etc from her. This was cured with Crot. H. 200C after reading
Vermeulen.

Hi, Deb.

Was the diagnosis specifically Alzheimer's? There are a number of "senile
dementia" causes, some of them quite treatable with simple nutritional
changes.

thinking that her son was stealing
Vermeulen.

Rochelle, did she show any other mentals or characteristic symptoms of
crotalus?
This is an interesting sort of case..because there may well be nutritional
deficiencies or disturbances underlying. so the homepathic can cure the
peculiar energetic manifestation but not the gross pathology [is this case].
btw..research has shown people who take 2-3 alcoholic drinks daily have
significantly less incidence of alzheiners.

It was just that when I read about this in Crot.H it seemed to fit!!
Alzheimer's is hereditary in her family as her father had it. She got it at
age 75 after moving from her house to a flat. She is still living on her own
at home with the help of carers morning and night to check that she has a
lunch made and an evening meal as she has forgotton how to cook and makes
the weirdest concoctions with teabags for flavour and lots of biscuits!! We
have to check the cupboards everyday and take things out that should be in
the fridge. The oven has been disconnected since when she nearly burnt the
place down by leaving a chicken in until it was smoking,. She has lost her
sense of smell and since she has been totally deaf since childhood
meningitis a smoke alarm would have been no good!! She lips reads fluently.
We hope to keep her at home as long as possible. She is now 79. At first I
tried to treat her with what I thought may be her constitutional -
Belladonna. Maybe it helped a bit.

Hello All,

I have not heard of a cured case of Alzheimer's or severe progressive
dementia such as with the description of this lady previously posted with
homeopathic medicine (not to say they don't exist) and if someone knows one
PLEASE present it because I and others I'm sure would like to read it!

Of course, probably the best prevention is with early and consistent
homeopathic treatment for all health concerns before any such symptomology
presents or in the earliest stages of memory problems.

Meanwhile, there is an interesting book that may be of interest in dealing
with Alzheimers and other inflamatory based conditions called Beyond Aspirin
by Newmark and Schulick. They claim that the cause of such disease is based
in part at least by an inflmatory response in the brain as well as other
organs in the Alzheimers person. They recommend a number of natural herbs to
prevent such inflamation, techinically called Cox-2 inhibitors.

Perhaps these herbs could help lead to homeoapthic remedies?

If only!! I was saying that the symptom that she was putting out at that
time, of excusing her son of stealing her money and others of stealing from
her was cured, not the Alzheimer's. This symptom that she had is a very
common one in Alzheimer's and very distressing for the relatives.
