California Health Freedom Act

I am not a California resident but, those of you who are or who want to
help, here is your chance. New York and other states are also trying to pass
health freedom acts. Please support these efforts. It is OUR freedom that is
at stake.

Dear allen,
Since our president, John Melnychuk, is out of the country this week, I
have the great privilege of announcing passage of SB577, the California
Health Freedom bill, by the State Assembly.
In a unanimous vote, 69-0, the Assembly members agreed with their Senate
counterparts that Californians should be given the freedom to choose
non-harmful health care providers, even if they are not licensed by the
state.
This is a great victory and you should be proud of your contribution. The
voice of each member of CHFC has been heard in Sacramento. If you made
personal contact through phone, fax, or mail, you deserve a special star.
Your participation has been crucial to our success.
After the Senate approves the amended version next week, the bill goes to
the Governor's desk for a final signature. While we do expect him to sign
SB577, we don't like to count our chickens before they hatch. So, if you
haven't yet sent your letter to the governor, there is still time. The
sample letter and contact information you have already received is posted
below.
Finally, as long as I have your attention...
I know that John Melnychuk, our fearless leader, has asked for your
support in retiring our $70,000 debt. What he hasn't told you is that much
of that debt is in the form of loans from board members like him. If you
have been waiting to back a winner, now is the time to help us pay back
the visionaries who have made this legislation possible.
If each of our 2,330 members each contributed just $30, we could retire
our debt. If each contributed $50, we would be in the black and ready to
pay off our final expenses.
Please ask yourself if $50 to change the course of health care freedom in
this country is worth the price. If you have already contributed, you have
our undying gratitude. If you can afford more, or less, just send what you
can. I know that consumers and practitioners of Complementary and
Alternative Health practices are not always the richest segment of our
society, but just look at what a little bit from each of has accomplished
in Sacramento.
It was exactly two years ago this month that I heard about an innovative
piece of legislation that had passed in Minnesota written by a feisty
attorney, Diane Miller, who did not believe that the allopathic medical
approach had all of the answers all of the time. I was so excited by the
possibilities that I started firing off emails and eventually found a
like-minded group of people in California.
Two years from conception to a Governor's signature is the blink of an eye
in the world of laws and legislation. Without getting too sappy, I just
want to express my personal gratitude to Diane, Jerri Johnson and all of
the gang in Minnesota for their inspiration, to John Melnychuk for his
leadership in California, and to Bill Abalona, our Attorney, and George
Steffes & Co, our lobbyist for their hard work and brilliant strategic
minds.
So, send your letters and send your checks and, after the governor puts
pen to paper, you are all invited to my place in San Francisco for a
bar-b-que!

Dear Governor Davis,
I am a California resident. I am also a supporter of health freedom for
all Californians -- especially the right to use alternative forms of
health care.
Please vote in support of SB577, the health freedom bill that will shortly
come to your desk for signature.
This bill will help bring the California medical practice act up to date
with current reality -- that a majority of Californians now safely use
alternative forms of health care. SB577 will also help to legitimize and
enhance the professional atmosphere for alternative practitioners, as well
as encourage their interaction with conventional medical practitioners.
Thank you for your support of SB577!
