I really need to disagree with you Ed. To report a case like this, gives
too much fuel to their fire. The FDA is not a friend to homeopathy and
being the mouthpiece for the pharmaceutical interests, your suggestion would
bode ill for homeopathy in general. Altho, requiring a bit more work and
sensivitity to the profession, I think the homeopathic community needs to
develop some kind of response that will not come down on us. Do you think
the AMA goes to governmental agencies when they have a problem with one of
theirs! Of course not. They deal with it within for very good reasons.
That is part of how they maintain control of their public image. Let's get
real about how govt works.

Tanya, thank you! Since yesterday, when Edward gave me the information from
HPCUS, I have been wondering what will happen if I report it. I don't want
all homeopaths to pay the price for what this ignorant woman has been
getting away with for years. I know how things work. You complain about
someone and YOU are the one investigated!

Magda,
Off the top, I have two thoughts about this person. One, is that individual
confrontations are useless. On a 1-1, she is obviously very agressive. So
I might suggest a group effort. I would also compile a list of documented
problems with her protocol--a mini-research project. Perhaps a group
approach of professionals would give her some thought. This, of course,
assumes that she really has a desire to do some healing buried in there
somewhere. If she is the kind of person who cannot handle criticism or
failure, then approach is all important. I would consider all the
recommended steps for handling difficult people (as found in many available
paperbacks on business dealings).
The second thought is that if she is so pathological with greed and power,
that she cannot be spoken with, then it becomes a real issue within the
healing community. But I still see group effort as part of the solution.
Does she belong to any professional organization? That might be one venue
to work through to put pressure on her. Confronting her with the falsity of
her claims about her 'training.'could be part of your approach. I would get
more information on this from the company she claims trained her. Also,
letter and/or editiorial writing in professional journals that she would
read, can be an effective tool.
It sounds like you have a difficult situation out there. But we all need to
be aware of how this situation resolves. Coincidentally, I had a
conversation last nite with a customer (i have another business) and it
turns out that she had a nightmare story about a contractor that she used.
In talking with her, I realized that I knew this person and had my own
difficulties with his unprofessional and unethical behavior. This was a
cold-call that I was on and it was amazing how fast we were able to bond
over this experienc. We talked about how this person manages to survive
going from one rip off to another. She raised the same type of question:
how can he continue to get away with this stuff and what can be collectively
done to stop him. The man, as your problem person, has also been sued and
also uses very hostile and agressive responses when confronted by people.
In this case, large sums of money are involved as well as quality of service
(when you can get it). This problem is endemic in our culture these days
with indivisualism running rampant. It makes it so hard to create a
community response to deal with such extreme problems.
I hope these thoughts offer some help or stimulate some others constructive
ideas.
