Dear Toni,
Ovarian cysts can be associated with high circulating estrogen levels. If hypothyroidsm is present or iodine is lacking, the estrogen receptor density can be increased so that the effect of the high circulating estrogen levels are amplified.
So if iodine is lacking estrogen can hasten the development of cysts. Hope this explains it well enough.
kind regards
Beverly
When I read this, I immediately thought of my horse. Could you tell me something about the relationship between iodine, thyroid and cysts as my mare is suspected of ovarian cysts.
