mancinella and stramonium

Hello Andrew, I would like to offer my ideas about these 2 remedies.
Mancinella - aka manganeel apple or manchineel apple.
The case I had was one of rape of a 35 year old woman who was so horrified
and disturbed by the incident that she refused to report the matter to
either the police or health authorities.
She presented as an extremely nervous and shy person. The incident happened
late at night as she was going home from a friend's house. An important
aspect is that she knew the person who raped her, although this made no
difference to her attacker's intentions, but to her it made it ten times
worse - to have to live with the knowledge of this person, his name, where
he lived, who he was (some would say that it would be a relief not to know
your attacker).
She had kept the incident secret but it was now making her ill. "I am going
mad with the worry of it all, what should I do?" I am going to go insane if
I don't work this out and get rid of the nightmare. What evil have I done to
deserve this?"
She went on to tell me that she couldn't sleep, she was frightened of the
night and the dark, couldn't face people or crowds. Her self esteem was very
low and she obviously could not confront the episode. She had terrible
feelings of indifference and apathy towards everything. She had since
developed catarrhal states (throat and uterus) which discharged a sticky
white and acrid liquid (the juice of manganeel apple is just like this), and
once a warm bloodied person she now felt the cold intensely. She stayed at
home, wouldn't go out much and only felt comfortable with one or two people
at a time.
Mancinella 200c - single dose not only opened her up to informing the police
but she also approached her attacker and beat him up!! (not sure that should
be part of the healing process but she felt great about it!). She went on to
a full recovery.
She never actually used any words such as "fear of being taken by the devil"
but this was the inference and the thing about Mancinella is that their
devil in question IS SOMEONE WHO IS CLOSE - KNOWN.
Keynotes = fear of going insane, fear of being taken by the devil, fear of
crowds, fear of the dark and night, internal battles of sanity versus
insanity, nervy quick and hurried, cannot sleep at night, become convinced
they are evil, convinced they have a dark soul, a sexual element is nearly
always involved, sensitive but do not confront, sit paralysed with fear,
feel as though possessed by the devil, catarrhal states, burning pains, icy
coldness.
The juice of the plant causes blindness - so read into that whatever you
wish.
Keep in mind that their devil can be someone close to them and the fear of
ghosts or spectres or spirits that they develop is someone in their past
(but not actually dead) - they "know" their attacker.
Stramonium is certainly a remedy of terrors - dominated by a fear of being
alone or abandoned. The terrors often originate from a distant and unknown
trauma (yes, I know this can be the aetiology of many diseased states but it
is particularly so for this remedy). It is often prescribed to children with
Autism where it is discovered that they were born during a "C" section -
this is their terror - not being born 'properly'. The terror is never dealt
with or resolved and the slow regression into another world takes over.
There are many delusions - more to do with being attacked than by being
spooked by spirits, but this brings a connection to Mancinella - the spirits
attack as well.
Stramonium needs company/society, unlike Mancinella. They need sunshine and
daylight (both Rx are plants so this makes sense). Both can be cheerful and
happy by day but sombre and fearful at night and in the dark.
I think there is more delirium with Stramonium. Often they go on to adopt a
religious fanaticism, fervently praying but believe themselves to be the
devil - a divided state. They see Christ in the churchyard, they see devils
both during an acute short lived halluncinagenic state and a more chronic
mental state.
In the examples I am giving the Mancinella connection with the devil is a
metaphorical one - with Stramonium the delusion is actual and totally
believed during the episodes. The same can be said for ghosts, spectres and
spirits. But many more cases would have to be compared to elaborate on this.
By the way, Stramonium grows extremely well in isolated and abandoned waste
sites and also graveyards and cemetaries - must be all that bonemeal!!
Hope this is useful,
Best wishes, Joy Lucas
