brain tumour, 6yr boy, plussing?

Dear Group,

Pls can you give me advise on this case.

6yr boy.
About 4 months ago, due to headache + seeing red flashes and short vomiting
(white, watery) the doctors discovered via a scan a 2 cm brain tumour (1st
or 2 th degree glioma).
Situated between the cerebral hemispheres at eyes height, apparently very
difficult to perform surgery.
To relieve the headache, caused by overpressure, they have placed a valve,
which seem to work well.
Doctors have trouble to determine the exact nature of the tumour as well as
the aggressiveness of it.
The two scan's which were taken, with an interval of about 6 weeks showed no
growth of the tumour.
Now they decided to wait till somewhere in September to take an other scan
and to see what happened and only than to decide what allopathic treatment
they would propose.
This leave the parents with some week of concern and doubts.....but also
with an opportunity.
Homeopathy could be very helpful.

Now here are the details (so far) of the case:
* no glands involved
* one grandmother died (probably) from leukaemia
* pregnancy: no complications
* no problems with vaccination and/or childhood illnesses
* early teeth and early walking, but late potty-trained
* child is slim (although big appetite)
* skin soft, normal.
* on back (only there) a big (5 to 15 cm) very pale, thin birthmark
* child is very 'dynamic' during the day: can't sit still and talks all the
time. Has a loud voice.
* at night child is *very* calm, sleeps *very* profound, almost comatose.
"When the head reaches the pillow boy sleeps already."
* carving for meat, salt (puts his finger in the salt tub, if he can), raw
onions ("eats them like an apple") and raw potatoes
* likes company, other children...
* no problem with authority (of the parents)
* can't stand noise (it hurts), but not sensitive to odours, light,
tastes...
* is very tearful when hearing a sad story
* no remarkable heat/cold symptoms
* as a baby child cried all the time, for no reason. Symptom stopped at
about month 4 spontaneous
* Got as a baby, according to the mother, from crying a navel and a groin
rupture
* several (3 to 4) otitis (in a short period, 1st year) treated with
antibiotics, OK since. For the rest not much colds etc..
* doesn't perspire much
* no problem with bathing and being in the water

So, in order to help this child as good and quick possible (and before
allopathic heavy artellery takes over, or to prevent this from happening..)
I was thinking to use Ramakrishnan's plussing method.
So I studied the book and came to the conclusion that
Aethusa cynapium 200C alternated with Carc. 200C would be a good start.

Members who have some experience with the plussing method for a cancer
treatment, could you pls late my know if you would support this choice?
I'm happy with any help I can get.

Thank you in advance

Hi, Jan and others.

Thanks for posting this request. I haven't had time to look at your remedy
choice (aeth) as you requested. However, I thank you for posting this
request.

I too am at the start of using the plussing method for a cancer patient (a
close family member, actually), and, realizing that I wanted some support as
we do this, I had been wondering whether it would make sense to share the
case with the group. The tenor of discussions so far on the list has seemed
to amount to a rejection of the method's validity because of doubts about
its classical nature (or not).

I've studied the book several times and realized that the method is laid out
in crystal clear terms that should be replicable, and that if one thinks of
the appearance of cancer in an individual as an acute emergency, the method
makes absolute sense in classical terms. In any case, as Jan pointed out,
after a new cancer diagnosis several weeks go by while the tests are being
done and the nature and extent of disease are determined along with a
proposed allopathic plan, and I too have seen that this presents a nice
window of opportunity to really pursue the disease aggressively with
homeopathy, as Ramakrishnan and Coulter describe.

I'd like to suggest that we might form a sort of collaborative sharing as we
do this.

The experiment, by nature, is relatively short term, since we have a matter
of weeks before other treatment decisions may be made. And in fact in most
cases, Ramakrishnan reported some positive indicators by the end of the
first two months. It would indeed be interesting to know if anyone else on
the list has experience with the plussing method or has a case they were
considering treating with this method, and would like to participate.

Whatever happens, it would be worth writing a report for publication, since
the plussing method is unfamiliar to most homeopaths in "the West" and most
folks I've talked with have reacted as have the list members, wondering
about its theoretical underpinnings and/or being skeptical of its potential
validity.

The patient I'm working with has a recurrence of breast cancer 8 years after
recovering from an absolutely horrendous round of chemotherapy and radiation
for the first one, which was Stage II/III when discovered. We don't know
anything yet about this one's histology or extent, just that the blood
cancer markers are elevated and there is a new calcification on the
mammogram -- a combination which, in a patient with her history, means
virtually a 100% certainty of new cancer activity.

She has no other gross symptoms, and was shocked to get this news. On the
other hand, for the past six months, her emotional state has shifted
dramatically to a clear Carcinosin pattern, and I've treated her with Carc a
few times when she just felt so overwhelmed she couldn't take it any more.
The remedy helped dramatically each time. So obviously she did have
symptoms, although we had no idea they meant that a new cancer was taking
form. We'll never know, either, what effect, if any, the Carcinosin
treatments may have had on the development of the cancer.

She does not intend, in any case, to undergo the extent of treatment she had
before, because it came close to killing her several times and she couldn't
support it again. She will consider surgery and radiation if they seem
indicated or potentially useful, and also is very interested in the
homeopathic therapy.

We're at the end of the first week with Lac-c 200c, using the plussing
method (chosen because it addresses cancer occurring in other breast after
mastectomy in one, plus a lot of additional "constitutional" indications).
Yesterday, I was fascinated when she told me that suddenly she felt much
stronger and her energy was noticeably improved, with her anxiety
diminishing dramatically. In fact, I see now that although the previous
sporadic Carcinosin treatments were dramatically helpful, they hadn't
resolved the underlying emotional pattern, and yesterday what I saw was a
huge step further in that direction.

I guess because of Ramakrishnan's terse presentation, we hadn't thought
about any immediately noticeable effects from the treatment, other than --
hopefully -- some effect on the tumor and its markers. However, this
increase in energy and sense of overall well-being is often precisely the
first remedy reaction people notice when the right treatment is being given,
so I found it a hopeful sign.

I've used the Ramakrishnan remedy alternation strategy in one other case.
For the past 8 months, I've been treating a neighbor's dog, after the dog
was found to have some sort of leukemia and was dying with gross
hemorrhaging from the resulting thrombocytopenia. The neighbors didn't
invest the funds to find precisely what kind of leukemia it was, since the
dog was obviously in a terminal state. The spleen was indurated -- like a
stone. As a palliative measure, I treated with the alternating remedies
according to Ramakrishnan's method, without having the owners do the actual
plussing, which they didn't have time for, due to work schedules. They
figured the dog would die, anyway, within a few days.

I alternated Ceanothus with Scirrhinum initially, and the dog recovered.
Her constitutional remedy is Phos, and in the months since, as she has gone
through variations of states, I've included Phos and also Cadm-met into the
rotation at different times, based on symptom pictures, and switched to Carc
instead of Scirr, since the induration resolved very quickly.

She still has hemorrhagic tendencies, minor now. A large exostosis appeared
on one toe during the most dramatic recovery period, and I told the owners
to just let it be, since it wasn't painful and I figured there was a good
possibility it represented an exteriorization of the disease. She's lively,
playful, enjoying her life, energetic, runs and swims (in the frigid waters
of San Francisco Bay) every day. (And she walks funny because of the big
bony lump on one toe -- a small price to pay for feeling fine.)

I don't think she's "cured," because her blood tests have never quite
returned to normal and she still tends to bleed a little unduly. But with
no medication other than a repeat of homeopathic remedies whenever something
seems to start spiking in the wrong direction, she's living well, which is
quite remarkable for a 14 year old Belgian shepherd (a relatively large dog
whose life expectancy is between 12 and 14 years) who was given up for dead
8 months ago. I expect someday she'll just die suddenly and peacefully,
which will be perfectly acceptable -- of course sad, but not tragic --
since she's already reached or exceeded her life expectancy.

I find the case a hopeful omen for the possible success of Ramakrishnan's
method with other patients, including humans.

In any case, I'd like to propose that Jan and I and anyone else who'd like
to participate might form an "interest group" to follow closely these two
present cases and any others that are out there right now, with a report to
the larger group at the end of a couple of months. If you would like to be
part of the "interest group" and take an active role in analyzing and
dealing with what happens, please let us know privately.

Thanks. Rosemary C. Hyde, Ph.D.

Hi ALL,
Rosemary , could you give more information about the plussing method and the name of the book( I miss this e-mail). My homeopath told me never ever give to the cancer patient Carcinosin in dry form. THANKS. Maria
