Hi all

if anyone is on line at the moment and has some ideas on getting circulation to the femur head in a case of perthe's disease I would really appreciate you help. Patient coming in shortly and i would like to have some idea on which type or which specific remedies may be suitable to look at. symptoms will probably be pain in hip due to inflammation of synovial lining of joint or there could be a fracture of femur head with painful limp

thanks for your suggestions in advance

Hi Beverly
Arg-met has been indicated in necrosis of the cartilage (Kent's lectures) and
also for necrosis of the bone. Kent also has Silica for necrosis of the
femur. There are many others in this latter rubric GENERALS - Necrosis- bone.
Hahnemann indicates Arg-met for tearing pain in the epiphyses
Julian, O.A has indicated Cortisonum for osteonecrosis, especially of the hip.

Also, after the degeneration, there is regeneration or calcification. If this
is the phase your patient is in, then I wonder if you maybe should be looking
at it from this angle

others mentioned include Mez, fluor-ac, phos, and Jeremy Sherr had a case of a
30yr old with avascular necrosis of the femur and she was a lycopodium case I
believe.

Hope this helps

Dear Shamon,

Perthes Disease is : "Abnormal changes in the growth of the bone substance in the head of the upper leg bone (femur) in children. It may begin with death and the breakdown of bone-forming tissues, followed by regrowth or rehardening of the bone."

The most common medicines which are very near to this disease are: cal.carb, Hekla Lava , Drosera & Lapis Alb. Try to see other patients symptoms for totality. You must make a differential diagnosis with Osteiod Osteoma too as it has also the similar symptoms.

Regards,

Dr.sahni

This I find most interesting Dr Sahni... my Homeopathic Veterinarian is treating one of my dogs for the same "disease description" as you mention below... when we recently switched the dog to Calc. Carb. is when the dog has suddenly become happy, most active and pain-free again... and the x-rays we recently took do show the recalcification/re-hardening of the top of the femur and her painful limp has now disappeared since the new remedy choice... Thank you for the additional insight.

Respectfully yours,
