Setting a different Forum Language

Post by Peter Walker »

Although we are all discussing here in English, some people here may not be native English speakers and may have difficulty understanding all of the menus and instructions in English. So far, the Minutus forum could only be operated in one language: British English.

You can now use the forum in the following languages:
  • American English
  • British English
  • Dutch - Netherlands (Informeel)
  • Französisch - Français
  • German - German (Du)
  • Italian - Italiano
  • Persisch - Persian
  • Spanish - Spanish (Tú)
By default, the forum uses British English. If you want to display the on-screen menus, etc. in a different language, follow these instructions.
  1. First you have to be logged in to the forum.
  2. Now click on your name at the top right of the page and select " User Control Panel ".
  3. Now click on the " Board Settings / Edit Global Settings " tab .
  4. Set "My Language" to the language of your choice
  5. Click the Submit button.
  6. Your selection is confirmed and the language of the forum is changed.
If you need a language that is not listed above please let me know and I will install it for you if available.

Please note that you should continue to write your contributions in English. All of these changes are all menus and on-screen instructions. You can see screenshots of this page in the different languages below.

Translating the forum posts:

If you want to read the posts automatically Google translated into another language, use the "Select language" button in the menu bar (try this with a mailing list)!

Important:
Google translations are not always accurate and may sound strange compared to a human translation.
Although Google Translate can translate the forum menus as well, it is MUCH better to set the forum to use your language as described above, as those translations have been translated by humans and are therefore much more accurate.
