No, I did not dose the Oscillo either time as prevention, but rather as treatment, (as is suggested on the package.)
Ah, now I see what you are explaining . . . if I had dosed it as prevention, it would not have added fuel to the flu symptoms fire.

But did you take the Oscillo as prevention before you got sick or while you already had symptoms? As I wrote earlier on, if you did the latter, then you increased to load on your system and made things worse.

I am more worried about Paracetamol being OTC and cigarettes in groceries....

Hi Hennie,
I had considered Gels first based on Hercu's recommendation but mistakenly thought I did not meet enough important criteria to dose it. I had limited remedies on hand when the flu symptoms began, and was feeling quite ill, so took what I had on hand at home which was the Oscillo. It was not a carefully measured decision but more one of needing to take 'something' for relief.
I will admit that I certainly have learned a lot during this flu illness, and if good learning came of this, that is more than you can say for many illnesses. Deb

some conditions of a culture the existence of a germ animated by an
oscillating movement. He named the nosode Oscillococcinum because of
this fact.
These researches helped him to describe a remedy of which the clinical
experiments in the infections of influenza were carried out in
particular by Paul Chavanon. Oscillococcinum was developed by Boiron
Laboratory in France. Pierre Schmidt says Oscillococcinum is for
"influenza at the beginning as a preventive, as well as during
convalescence" Planets: Mercury.
MEDICAL - Influenza of all types, especially in the earlier stages.
Bursting headaches and muscle aching. Tendency to get influenza.
Anxiety, paleness, chill. Sensitiveness to barometric weather changes.
Tuberculous patients sensitive to cold. Paleness, asthenia,
hyperthermia. Eye and nasal catarrh. Bronchial congestion. Painful
congestion of the ear drum. Gastro-intestinal troubles with the
influenza. "Mastoiditis, at the beginning of a disease which does not
develop." (Schmidt)
This is a faithful remedy at the beginning of influenza, of rhinitis
and otitis. Given early it is very efficacious.
To obtain good results in a case which begins and to cut short the
manifestations of influenza, it is necessary to use one dose of
Oscillococcinum 200c every 2 to 3 hours or repeat only if necessary.
Modalities - Better by heat. Better by rest. Worse by milk. Worse by eggs.
MIND - Subjects with fixed ideas, obsessions. Agony, anxious without
any motive. Obstinate. A busy body, maniac, cannot bear disorder. Fear
of dirt. Fear of being polluted. Has the need to wash his hands very
often and is afraid of giving his hand to others for the fear of
pollution, contagion.
CLINICAL - Aches. Anxiety. Bronchitis. Conjunctivitis. Ear pain.
Fears. Headaches. Influenza. Gastro-intestinal disorders. Mastoiditis.
Rhinitis. Sinuisitis. Varicose ulcer.
Abdomen - Abdominal cramping pains followed by fetid diarrhea. Pains
in the appendix region.

and left supra - orbita pain. (4) Luffa operculata - Frontal-occipital
headache, acute or chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the

Actually, there’s an article in the BMJ Case Reports (2015) about a supposed anaphylactic reaction to Oscillococcinum with angioedema and a tongue so swollen the patient couldn’t close his mouth. Apparently some reports to the FDA (3) also list angioedema as an adverse effect.

Naturally, there was no exploration of other potential causes. Since there’s no proving of Oscilloc. we don’t really have a full symptom picture, only symptoms drawn from a handful of cases years ago.
