Another group that switched to Io said all you need is someone who is a
moderator
to make the changes. So, it seems Soroush is legally able to make
changes to the group.
Hope this helps us move forward

Re: changing yahoo groups
Not totally correct.
Soroush said "my controls are extremely limited", which means that it is very unlikely he can do it.
A yahoo moderator can only move a group to io if that moderator is
a) able to invite a new member (transfer@groups.io )
b) make that new member a moderator
Obviously only Soroush can tell us if he is able to perform those 2 tasks.
There are very very many yahoo groups which are stuck with missing owners and no moderator having the "powers" to perform these 2 things.

OK – I need a little bit of hand-holding as to exactly what steps I need to follow please.

Re: changing yahoo groups
No I cannot do these tasks.
All I can do is make changes so that a person is or is not moderated, or stop them from posting.
Also I can change whether they have individual posts or receive a daily digest!

Re: changing yahoo groups
Well what I get from your post Barb is confirmation of the subtleties of censorship by Yahoo and other big
social media businesses.
So if we can save all our posts/files from Yahoo and then begin a new group, that sounds like our best option.
Waiting to hear from those who tired to copy files to let us know if it is the whole file or only their own posts.

Re: changing yahoo groups
There are a number of articles that discuss how to migrate our files online. Here is one that seems
somewhat readable to my very untechie eye. People with better tech knowledge may help better than I can.

Re: changing yahoo groups
This is the only issue I was thinking about in moving forward, is to give Soroush the control that is absent here. Shannon I agree that does not solve the archived information issue.
