antibiotics for an elderly patient.

Hi All,

An elderly patient is very good health (relative to his peers) but has very bad gums and teeth. Eventually, they will all be pulled. Each time one is pulled, he dutifully takes a round of antibiotics. I am worried about damage to his immune system.

The problem is how to change his ways. He is a relative, or I would not be considering his fate as related to my fate.

(A small jaw is over-crowded with teeth so the gums are in poor condition. Using homeopathy, the dentists have unknowingly put off the date for pulling all the teeth by at least 10 years.)

I took a WholeHeathNow course from a Canadian dentist who specializes in wholistic dentistry (Dr.Gary Fortinsky, DDS, FCAH, CCH). He only gives Arnica 200c or 30c routinely after pulling a tooth. No antibiotics are given. I have not had a tooth pulled in years, so I can't personally attest to the validity of this practice, but I believe him. The conditions of tooth-pulling are amazingly resistant to infection although infection would certainly be dangerous. I case of infection, I would first use Calendula 200c then Pyrogen 200c if it got really bad. But he says he has had to take such extreme action very few times in his 20 odd years of practice.

My patient cannot be convinced to go against his conventional dentist. I am saying just put off the antibiotic pill one night. Give Arnica 200c a try. With the slightest twinge of pain, he can always take the antibiotic.

Recently he has spent a week in bed with a cold. Just a sore throat and a slight cough. This many days needed for recovery are unheard of for him. My reading of this slow recovery is he is eating sugary foods and antibiotics have damaged his immunity. The problem is how to convince him.

I gave no homeopathy because the symptoms are so minor and slight. Also, I think this slow recovery is self-inflicted. I don't want to save him from the consequences of his own ignorance.

Now reading Steve's anti-vaccination for Pneumonia article, I am thinking that even that article would not convince this guy. (He is related to me, or I would not be so concerned). I am wondering about how to approach him. Quite stubborn about lifestyle changes. "What worked in the past is ok for me." is his unspoken belief.

Once he is over the cold, I am going to suggest t0 him to do research on foods that build immunity. Maybe if he knew more, he would be easier to talk to. He is a very intelligent guy, but also very timid in front of authority who know more than he does. He has been saved by homeopathy so many times, he is a very unwilling believer.

Honestly, emotionally I feel so negative about his attitude. But, he is so normal. First I would like to change my negative attitude. Hard to do when you are working with family.

Best,
Ellen Madono

You said “First I would like to change my negative attitude.” This is easily achieved by using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT tapping) so find yourself a local practitioner!!

All the best

Thanks Rochelle.

I am in Tokyo.
But I meet every week on the internet with our intention time. We work on any kind of issue including physical problems. I will bring this negative attitude issue up in my intention group.

See “The power of eight” by Lynn Mac Taggert for more information. She died recently so her website is down. But you can find many YouTube’s by her by just entering her name.

I wrote the email because you need to recognize the problem before you can work on it.

Anyone can use this method without any special training. Also if your schedule is open at our Eastern standard time 9 PM on Thursday, anyone can join our group.

Best,
Ellen

Silacea. I think. I am always treating local emergencies, so I haven’t really used a constitutional remedy on him.

Actually the constitutional is a tip to how you would approach that person in a persuasive argument. Very stubborn.

See Lynne McTaggart’s website for blogs, articles, books, lecture series – including Intentions and Power of 8, etc.

Hi Ellen,

Maybe with a stronger constitution there might not be as many acutes?

He does not have so many acutes. Maybe I should be saying they are sub-acutes. Gum abcess is definitely silicae and it worked once, but found that a spring water with a lot of Salt (Nat mur) in it worked better. Now, there are swollen prostate problems and Soldalaego maybe working. But, not spectacular.

Even the prostate is an inflammation. The last thing that person needs is antibiotics. Grrrrr

For the gums I’d also look at Co-Q10 (and vitamin C)—but that’s not homeopathy…
