I recently received this information about the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The article below states that it will appear on the CA ballot in 2020.
If enacted, this 'seems' to contain many important consumer protections regarding how personal
information is currently being (mis)used by online entities with regard to selling or sharing your browsing history, data tracking, data mining, online purchases, etc.

From the article:
What is CCPA?
Much like the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which became fully effective in May 2018, the CCPA established new requirements for securely handling personal information of consumers and safeguarding consumer rights. The CCPA applies to California residents
only."
