[CATWELL] YG Download: File corrupted (3)

This 2nd download was able to be completed, however, when I go to open each of the folders titled 'Mailbox' they have long 0000001 file extensions which my computer can not read.
Bing then offers several options to try to decipher these which I will need to read thru when I have LOTS of time. It could well be that it is our computer putting up all of the extra hoops to jump thru. Deb
The good news is that once you've received your download, if you return to the request prompt via your YG Dashboard or the option at the top of the Group home page, because your data is already compiled, it is readily available to download again -- you don't have to wait. Deb
Wanted to advise that when I try to download the zip file from YG containing data from all of my Groups, I get a message that says it is corrupted and can not be opened.

I've heard this same complaint from only one or two other people - anyone else here finding this to be true too? Will see if there is any way to communicate this to YG, but . . . will they do anything to resolve? Seems that you have to request a new download. Deb

The download that seemed to not work yesterday seems to work today.

Maybe it takes time to convert or reassemble or whatever it does?

Not sure what goes on with their process, to be honest

I'm still dealing with folders not able to be read/opened, so will take some time to figure this all out.
It is very good news that several people do have a complete set of the message archives. Good luck with your data, too. Deb

Your experience is one of the things I have been concerned about.

It may be a useless for individuals to download the files as they will not open or be scrambled beyond use.

I have had this frustrating experience when having my own computer email files downloaded for saving and transfer to

a new or repaired computer.

Yes, trying to open the folders is un-necessarily frustrating. Yet, Soroush, Hennie (and likely Leilanae) have written that they have a complete set of archived messages, so there will be several full sets to use for relocation. Whatever may have been in the Files section, may be able to be re-set for access by Soroush, now that Ardavan has given him broader privileges.

The 'Files' section is shown in gray type on the message board page, which means that the owner (or error) has blocked access. At Catwell and other groups, the Files were used to store important documents and articles for shared use by the Group. The access can be set to allow uploads by the owner/moderator only or members may also have been allowed to upload to that section in the past. Several people here have written that they had info in the Files that they wanted to download before it is lost -- perhaps Soroush can re-set the Files access to allow this section to be opened again. Hi Debra,

There was one specific group I was interested in. There was no way to get one group from Yahoo.........they sent the files for ALL the yahoo groups I was registered in.

Initially, maybe, what was happening .......I was trying to check out downloads that had not completely downloaded.
In the mean time the one group I was interested in relocated. Situation solved.
Now, I am searching my computer to delete all the yahoo group downloads. (Computer has slowed down.)
