I just want to confirm. My understanding is that when the word "heat" is used in a rubric it refers to fever.

For example

EXTREMITIES - RESTLESSNESS - Feet - heat; after

If in doubt - look at the sources and read in MM what they meant by "heat". Also, look at the corresponding sub rubrics, if there are any - they can give you a clue - i.e. if sub rubric mentions meningitis or other infection, that would confirm the use of "heat" as "fever"

I’m writing off the top of my head, but I think it refers to the stages of fever. There’s a heat, a chill and a perspiration stage. So it’s referring to the heat stage of the fever. Look at stages of fever. Use stage or stages as your keyword.

Surely it was fever generated sx, it would have said Fever in place of heat.

Please consider that the person may have become exposed to great heat – hot day etc., or for having to work in a hot place eg bakery, foundry, forge or even fire-fighting.

as a rule heat refers to fever.

but there are many exceptions for example if it says heat in the head or hand etc. then it does not refer to fever.
So whenever you see heat before or heat during or heat after it is almost always fever but if you see things like heat flushes or heat connected to any part of the body then it refers to heat as in warmth.
