an interesting tidbit

Went to see a stem cell doctor yesterday. In conversation he discussed some research being done by
another medical researcher at a university (foget which one). Researcher was formulating a new product
from an extract from stem cells. It will be designed for easier application but will also require ongoing repeats.
So once again a relatively simple and benign procedure will be turned into a patented, big money maker.
What he also said was while in medical school and beginning clinical training he noticed all these 80-90 yr
old people walking around the hospital not looking that sick. He asked them when was the last time they
saw a medical doctor before their current hospital stay. Average was 50 yrs without any medical intervention!@
This apparently left a big impression on this budding doctor. So while continuing with his medical degree his
choices for practice were minimla drug using protocols; ie, plastic surgery and, now, stem cells. The only
meds he used were a local anesthesia for the liposuction. He offerred a.b.s and pain killers but had no
issue with my refusal to take them. Made this procedure much more endurable without a fight about drugs.
