Dear Ardavan,

The answer to this question is in the size of the dose. These are
individuals who really need a larger dose. This is when we make a medicinal
solution with more than one pill. When one increases the numbers of pills
of the medicinal solution one greatly increases the size of the dose and
the remedy can be used as a single dose or repeated to speed the cure if
and when necessary. There are a few cases in Hahnemann's Paris journals
where he steady increased the number of pills (....) until there was a
progressive reaction. Adding a 2, 3 or very rarely more pills to the
solution can make a big difference.

Sincerely, David Littel

split doses/Ardavan

Post by Ardavan Shahrdar »

Dear David,

Yes, my own guess is my failure in proper dose
adjustment in those cases.

Kind regards,

Ardavan

I had a couple of times where an acute rx I was giving myself did not
work in the water dose, but worked okay in dry dose. I think it was
Arnica one time, and something for a nasty cold the second time. Both
times I had taken the first dose dry, and planned to do further doses in
solution, but found that it didn't work, but going back to dry doses
worked okay. Maybe if I'd drunk the whole cupful for a dose :-), but
it seemed easier to just use dry.

I also had another experience, taking a "constitutional" rx in 30x
potency (must have been chosen from what I happened to have, because I
haven't used Xs much at all), where taking 1 or 2 tablets (as I've been
accustomed to) didn't work, but taking 3 or 4 (as the bottle
recommended) worked very well.

I had another experience where a rx my then-homeopath had me on did
*not* work well in LM -- constantly messing with the size of dose,
trying to walk a very fine line between "too small--no response" and
"too large--aggravation". Then I moved to dry Cs, and it worked fine
(tho ultimately turned out to be a stop-gap, not really "my" rx, so
perhaps that was part of the problem???)

So in all of these above 4 cases (and all on myself), the needed
size-of-dose was not so much about "me" (as I normally respond well to
small doses [or large] and have done fine with LMs), but something about
"me plus that remedy", I guess.

Sigh, more and more places to go astray...

My hunch, now, is that if a remedy requires a lot of "messing with", re
size of dose, precise potency, etc., then we should be alert to the
possibility that it's simply not the best remedy for the pt??? At least
some times...
:-)
