Hi Tanya,

Here's some info:

Coagulation (also known as clotting) is the process by which blood changes from a liquid to a gel, forming a blood clot..

Well, to me this is an example of a really odd study. Basically they have tested to see whether two doses of Arnica 5c, taken 15 minutes apart, will cause a proving. The answer, unsurprisingly, was no. ??????

Yes, I know what coagulation/clotting is.
So this study did not demonstrate any positive effects on bleeding with superficial cuts.

I interpret this as to say the use of Arnica may be beneficial in reducing the bruising/swelling after surgery and

using it without worry.

I should have added, they tested to see whether it would cause a proving in young, healthy individuals. Whether therapeutically or in trying to bring on a proving, would anybody use two tiny doses of 5c? I don't get it.

What I got was they made 2 small cuts in the arms of the healthy subjects and then measured coagulation

But they also seemed to do some other tests on the blood of the subjects in vitro.

Then at the bottom of the article they reference a hospital? study with people with various kinds of conditions.

I agree the study feels flimsy but that is what they do most of the time from what I can tell.

Hi again Shannon,

Can't seem to find the article now. Was about plastic surgeons using Arnica both before and after. Mostly about controlling bruising and swelling.

Well not just flimsy, but designed either in huge ignorance, or else designed to fail.

Reminds me of a long-ago study “proving” that Vitamin E has no benefit for something-or-other, and the dose used was 40 IU per day. Similar problem… Unless it was a simple typo, which of course is possible.

Yes. They drug industry was attacking the use of Vit E for heart health. If I recall they used

synthetic vit E at useless doses.
By flimsy I meant guaranteed failure.
