Hope you’re all well. I have a simple question: if a person who is a recovering alcoholic needs a remedy, is there a substitute for the alcohol preservative?
Thanks,
Vicki

If you mean a liquid potency such as a granule of C or LM in dilution, use water. Add a small piece of activated charcoal if you can get it, if you are worried about the water going off. Otherwise I tell patients to keep the bottle in the fridge, close it immediately after dosing etc. Or replace the bottle once a week. If you do the later, each new bottle will have to be succused to bring it to the same number as the ones being replaced. If you succuss the bottle 5 times with each dose and that is daily, then that is 35 times after 7 days. Next bottle is succused 35 times before use. The one after that is succused 70 times before use, the one after that 105 times etc.

Paul

Ah, thank you. That sounds about right.
Have you had any experience using it?

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your response. I was taught to always use a teaspoon of brandy or cognac to preserve the remedy. I don’t want to use liquor for her because she is trying to quit drinking.
So the charcoal in an activated charcoal supplement? I can try that…. maybe 1/2 of the cap.
That’s new for me. Thanks Paul…

Glycerine is the option that’s used commercially (i.e. in common brands on shelves of a health food store) as an alternative to alcohol.

Hi Viki, I have been in practice for 22 years, use primarily aqueous dilutions and never use alcohol in my remedy bottles. I do use new, sterile bottles and reverse osmosis up sterilized water in my bottles. They rarely go bad, and have worked fine. I have some Remedy bottles a couple years old that still work. Do check the bottle to make sure the liquid is clear and there are no floaters.
And yes, quircus tincture (in alcohol) to stop the craving, using 5 drop doses.
