I am very very new to homeopathy. I am trying to study about it and learn.
The main reason I joined this list was to glean information and I have found
something I have not run across before. Would you enlarge on the above
paragraph? I am not following it; what do the numbers here signify? Write as
much as you could, please. I will read it all. And probably ask another
question from it.

Hi Toni,

Remedies are listed in homeopathic repertory accompanied by gradation (1, 2,
3) indicating (depending on source) the preponderance of the symptom in
individual provers within a proving, or clinical success with the remedy vs.
the specified symptom.

I personally pay very little attention to the grades in repertorizing, but
it is useful information as used below, where an attempt is being made to
communicate the relative strength (according to the various sources) of a
remedy for different symptoms.

There are many aspects of repertorizing a case that are more important imho,
and you would need some understanding of Hahnemann's "miasm" theory of
chronic disease in order to follow the use of gradations in context below.

I might be following your explanation....Am I thinking right? It is 3,
meaning it rates high on the scale for treating pseudopsora TB and it rates
a 2 on a scale of 1 to 3 for treating sycosis? If this is not right, you'll
have to start over and draw me some pictures. Don't forget to tell me the
obvious because I haven't been around homeopathy long enough to know
anything. I'm still trying to UNthink allopathy.

intensely a remedy has in a particular symptom. The 1, 2, 3 are relative to
each in this manner. You will find this 1, 2, 3 in most repertories based
on Kent's Repertory and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in repertories based on
Boenninghausen. Rubrics are graded in 1, 2, 3 are also used in the materia
medicas. There are been slightly different methods of grading remedies over
the years but they all relate to intensity of the remedies in the repertory
or the rubric in the MM.
