Friends, it is possible to join without smart phone, I did it on 2 y.old laptop. One has to have an access to at least a dumb phone that is capable to recieve texts. Your use of the group does not depend on the use of the cell phone, but you do need to be next to the person with the cell phone at the signing up process. This is how it works:

will take you to the page where one of the options will be
Click on it and it will give you variety of options including computers.
Pick the operating system that your computer has. Then do one of the following:

1. Key in your cell phone number. Recieve the text with activation code. You are done! You can go directly to the group and enjoy stimulating conversations as it happens. I must say - this is an amazing experience!

2. In case you do not have even dumb cell phone in your possession - find a person among your frinds and neighbors who will be able to recieve text and immediately tell you the code (this is somewhat urget - they limit you with few min to key in the activation code). Follow the instructions for #1.

Format is very different. Compared to it, e-mail feels like a letter you get from the post office: )
