For a change the BBC has broadcast a brief, but very positive, item on homeopathy. It was part of this morning’s ‘Farming Today’ programme, and involves two farmers talking enthusiastically about the many benefits of using homeopathy for their livestock. So one might think!

But when I tried to make that point to a "rabid non-believer", his reply was that the placebo had worked on *me*, the animals owner. I only *thought* that my animals had been helped by the silly sugar pills. I offered -- okay, I requested, did not seem worth "begging" -- that he hear some small part of my list, and then try to explain to me how I could have been "placebo-ed" about them. He said no, he didn't want to bother.
As the saying goes, "Never let facts get in the way of a good story."
