If x rays show no fracture...what is breaking? And so if there is no bone to
set...would symphatum be okay to give for" bone" pain after the usual arnica?
I'm going to give it after the arnica if I hear no objections...and the eup if
that doesn't help.

A snapped ligament can give the same sound...then fractures can be present but not apparent on the X Rays for a few days.

Many moons ago while standing on the sidelines in the dojo studying martial arts, I heard from behind me the sound similar to that of a .22 short being shot off. I turned around to see of of our members in pain on the floor right behind me. We were told it was his achilles tendon that had ruptured. It was a sound I've always remembered.

Yes I would agree Bob – my partner snapped his playing squash – he had warmed up then played 3 games with me and then 2 with someone lese when it snapped I was up to top scoring and as you said you would never forget how loud the ‘snap’ actually was – the deficit was pretty obvious for that by the gaping gap in the back of his ankle and inability to raise his foot but other ligaments rather than tendons may perhaps not be so evident
