Is there any reason not to give digitalis (maybe 6c, or a Fibonacci homochord when I can get it) to an 86 year old who has episodes of *both* brachy- and tachycardia?

PS, he's currently on a pacemaker, and also a beta blocker which he is not tolerating all that well (feeling icky).

I have had good results on irregular pulse with Crataegus.

Find out which beta-blocker he's on. Atenolol is notorious for causing slowed heart rate, which can lead to heart block, hypoxia, and ultimately dementia.

Digitalis in pharmacological dose can cause any type of arrhythmia, so this might be a good indication. Nevertheless I would be careful, especially at the beginning of the treatment and use drop doses from a dilution glass, starting with one drop and see what happens.

The only potency i am able to get right away is 12x. Do you see any reason for me not to begin with that?

And if that seems ok for starting potency , do you feel the dilution should be done even though it is low, and he is stable at this point and not over sensitive to remedies?

Can I make a dilution and put into a dropper bottle, directing him to take one drop per daily dose without succusing? Or should each dilution glass be prepared fresh each day, as with LMs.

I assume this would be a once or twice daily repetition? (Tho I will of course follow his responses closely.)

I am out my depth with this...

I personally use low potency F series plasma potencies like 5C to 21C, but if you want to use a single potency based on the 12X you have, at least do increase it up to 13X which is a threshold potency and will be more effective IMO.

Or you could create a F plasma potency based on that.

I do give the patient either a made-up solution from which to take 1-2-3 drops 1-2-3 x/day (depends what they need) or do explain to them how to make dilution glasses if they are sensitive....same technique as with LMs, no mystery.

Now, you say he is stable....why do you want to give him this remedy????
