A friend of mine sent me an email with the question below. She was looking for source for pure evening primrose oil but did not want it in a gelatin capsule. Could not find source for the oil. So she decided she would wild yam.
Can anyone help with this answer?
I'm wondering if I can make my own homeopathic remedy, i.e., homeopathic wild yam. But the question is, since it is fat soluble and not water soluble, should I succuss it in alcohol or perhaps castor oil? What is the procedure for making these homeopathic remedies out of substances that are fat-soluble, but not very water soluble? With 0.1 gram in 10 grams of a solvent, that would be a 100X potency, right?

In most cases the "official" method begins with the first three potencies done as trituration in milk sugar. After that, the solubility shouldn't be an issue.

I'm not following her thinking, though...

Yes you could make your own homeopathic remedy from wild yam. But you will have to learn how to do it and you will be diluting it 100 different times.
Homeopathy is not used the way we use herbs and they are not interchangeable. Herbs have a broad base of working. Homeopathically remedies made out f those herbs must be carefully matched.

Better to have good information and not try to self treat or treat someone when you do not know the process.
