Dear Tanya
I was going to drop this subject but you have got me going again.
You wrote: "It is very frustrating when people argue that being pleasant is more important than principles."
Who said anything about being pleasant? You can be as hard as you want. But what we are talking about is being UNPLEASANT and INSULTING!
OK please explain which part of "You sound like you work for Merck." is a principal?

Which part of that sentence help Elham to understand Sheri's point of view on vaccination (Which many of us including myself strongly agree with!)
The art of diplomacy is the ability to tell the harshest thing to someone without starting a war.

Winston S. Churchill: "Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions."
To my mind and the support I have received, the sentence "You sound like you work for Merck." was TOTALLY unnecessary, did not contribute a jot to homeopathy, caused upset and anger and also wasted time.
I have found the best way of checking on positions is by asking questions. Like the question I asked Sheri about where does the toxic stuff comes from when a healthy person comes into contact with some one with say Measles and gets measles. It is polite, carefully worded and inoffensive. If there is a good explanation, then the answer will be given. If there is no answer, then people will either not answer or resort to various tactics so as not to answer. But then we will know that their cause is indefensible and lost.
If Sheri does answer, we will know about a new theory on the mechanism of transferred say Measles from one person to another.
Best wishes

Soroush

I really do know. Deal with this all the time. There are some issues where there is no middle ground
that is acceptable. Racism is one of them but I hear the same kinds of arguments as we have here about
vaccines. Your statement about being part of the solution or part of the problem comes right out the Civil Rights Movement. People don't like hearing this because it doesn't allow
fence sitting, wiggle room. I tell people we can discuss how to deal with the problem, but there is no discussion
about where your commitment needs to be. Vaccines are another major one given the extreme damage they do, acutely and long term. Discussing them is also a great venue for educating on the structural nature of vaccines in our society--how they are used to control the population, use of the population as an economic frontier for the drug corporations, the power of the drug corporations in controlling medical education, etc, etc.

It is very frustrating when people argue that being pleasant is more important than principles.
