I don’t remember the one with Ars but there was also The Law of Similars by Chris Bohjalian. It was about a similar situation where the pt received a remedy and then decided to self medicate with (almonds?) to which they were seriously allergic.

Hi all,
Does anyone remember the name of the novel where the main character was an Ars Alb?
The story line went something like this:
Ars Alb 30C was suggested and relieved his anxiety. Sometime later the anxiety returned. Instead of choosing a follow up appointment, he decided to self medicate, alas, a bit too frequently. And I'm sure you know the rest of the story.
Atb,
