I also meant to ask you how important do you consider to be the earlier
romantic times in his life? This seems to have been suppressed because he
was put down so much and he lost someone he loved. Coupled with feelings of
not being good enough this brings STAPHYSAGRIA into consideration.
They are very romantic and love 'being in love.' They fantasise a great deal
about their relationships and of course if the relationships go sour they
never get over it. The emotions are deeply suppressed by humility and then
the real disease sets in. They oscilate between submission and great
indignation and finally tremendous rage until they become so hardened and
there are violent outbursts. This could give the feeling that the self is
disintegrating and beyond control because there is a want of self control.
There is a theme of 'smallness' about this remedy - delusions concerning
size - and it is interesting that you say this person was 'put down' more
than once in his life which he reacted very strongly to and was never really
resolved.
Has a craving for alcohol as well.
Just some extra thoughts.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas
