Maybe you shoud read your own references.
There are such things as fleash eatign bacteria, but that does not mean they had a brown recluse sppider bite.
Nor does it mean that brown recluse bites have flesh eatign bacteria.
In your first ref, there is no spider bite data at all, so it does nto apply.
In your second reference 2 out of the total people studied had SECONDARY infection by bacteria, after a large wound was opened up by a brown recluse through envenomation. Quote:
"Both patients with spider bites delayed in obtaining medical treatment, and secondary infection of the necrotic tissue occurred."
SO that ref does not aply either.
Brown recluse venom has been well studied. It contains enzymes that have great similarities to the poison found in snakes. These enzymes include protease, hyaluronidase, phosphohydrolase, phospholipase, alkaline phosphatase, and esterase.
One of the nastier proteases in the venom is sphingomyelinase D
The venom is a lot worse than rattlesnake venom.
New research at AZ Univ. finds the proteins in the venom behave unexpectedly too, making a cyclic ring that travels and repeats the damage eg down blood vessels to affect a large area, allowing greater damage. It also triggers an immune system release of cytokines to do still more harm.
So watch out for the VENOM of this nasty little spider.
Any secondary bacterial infection is a separate issue.

Irene
