Fast forward to today....does that Preface still apply?

Yes and no....

In H's time, almost nothing was really known about the function of the human (and animal) body, physiology, chemistry were very much embryonic, mechanism of diseases unknown.

To me, it is fascinating to understand the mechanics of almost everything, the cellular working, what goes wrong in pathology, to see a 3D MRI of an organ where you can turn that specific organ in all directions on your screen and really see the pathology, better than if you had it in your hands.

That is where the problem starts: we spend 3-4 years in medical school learning all that, then we immediately are requested to almost forget it as soon as we get into clinical work, the "this for that" system taking over, with a timid acknowledgement to physiology when it happens to coincide with a prescription.

It is extremely revealing to ask a conventional MD to explain what he/she is doing in terms of physiopathology, then open a textbook and explain why they are wrong...loads of fun doing that.

But knowing the mechanisms of action improves the precision of homeopathic case taking and especially the focus on remedies.

Therefore, this Preface is still very much actual, just would do well to be adjusted to the 21st Century.

Joe.
