im under a homeopath and im now going to be given aurum arsenicum with the idea that I have a lot of arsenicum traits and aurum traits butttttttttt
from what I ve read ...........aurum ars does not have the same profile as arsenicum album and aurum metallicum put together nor do other remedies which have the names of 2 separate remedies.
so how can I withought being rude ask my hoemoapth about this.........or am I wrong and would aur-ars have the symptoms of arsenicum album and aurum...............

My personal thought would be -- if your homeopath is question-tolerant, go ahead and ask, as a point of curiosity.

BUT in the end, you won't have an effective working relationship with him/her, unless you are willing to let him/her follow out the line of thinking, and see what will work. If s/he is any good, having patience will be worth your while.

I just looked it up and could not find a proving per se.

Many authors have copied Clarke who himself refers the Chrestien, who "used it" in cases of syphilis. The extensive write-up by Kent seems to be either his own experience with it or a combination of the MM of Aurum met and Ars alb, as he was known to have done (and been criticised for that).

Sankaran writes : "Explanation: In this man we see features of both Aurum and Arsenic" and "This is the first metallic salt we have studied and we see how the two components come together".

That "combination" method is how Scholten started too...........seems to be a traditional tool, isn't it?

I have used this remedy a few times, these salts are not well known but do a lot of good work based on the minerals that it is made from. Ars is particular and aur often has suffered a great loss of something precious to him. But there are many other reasons the remedy could be prescribed and the absence of those sx would not be a reason not to use the remedy.
Homeopathy is complicated and one of my staff was amazed that I could give two people the same remedy and these people were nothing alike and with quite different complaints.

Aur has 4879 rubrics
Ars has 11585 rubrics
Aur-ars has 839 rubrics, 714 of which are common with both ars and aur.

What matters is whether YOUR symptoms align with a subset of aur-ars rubrics.

It is not unheard-of for a remedy combining two substances, to have a rubric set that has aspects of component parts. As you can see here, the majority of aur-ars remedies are indeed in both aur and ars.
Aur-ars is clearly less well documented having so few remedies documented compared to the others.

So whether the remedy is good for you, has to do with your individual match - but it is possible.
To use a different example:
The features of Calc-phos are not the same as Calc or Phos, but there is an area of overlap.
The physical features however are specific for the remedy, for example:
Calc is heavy built, slow and easygoing, very calm, takes everything in stride, nothing phases them.
Phos is long-legged, light on their feet, long strides to walk, and a social butterfly, extremely sensitive.
Calc-phos is longbodied, and lithe, but a heavy slim flowing lithe, with tightrope walking type balancing ability. Emotionally Cal-phos has features of both, or is between them ...they are intelligent and will point out things like phos does, but they do not talk on the phone for hours like phos. They are closer to easygoing calc in that respect, but will make known what it is they want, which calc is unlikely to do.

So you can see that if you have the right features of phos and the right features of calc they may align with the features of calc-phos. But only if the appropriate features in the overlap are there.

I take your point Irene, but such generalisations are not always correct. For example Calcs are fearful (so do not take everything in their stride!) and can be thin!

I agree. But they tolerate a lot that other types do not.
It is pretty hard to describe in one line the key aspects of an ICT as I was trying to do (for illustration purposes of overlap.)
Any ICT can be thin, but their boning gives away their ICT. Calc boning is heavy.
Phos boning is light.
The actual shape of bones also is relevant and associated with ICT, for example Sulph a wide shallow ribcage, Puls a deep one with a prominent sterum, Lyc with very narrow hips.

ICT Differences are easiest to see/study in large animals, as no clothes are in the way and bigger size makes it easier to see all the aspects, for example cows are a good study group. Just the foot of a cow gives away its Calc status for example. And the tail of a phos cow gives it away. The rump of an Ars cow is telling, and the belly of a Sepia cow and the teats of a Lyc cow, shape of udder or structure of rump matter and so on.
The same features are in people, but not so easy to see at a glance - the tail is hard to find:-) feet are often in shoes, and you'd be in big trouble if you asked to see teats!
