OK #1 - how do we know if there is any truth in anything about so-called Ebola, from Africa (or anywhere else)
#2 - how do we truly know numbers (same with so-called measles deaths - researched that years ago and in one report there were more deaths than there cases!)
#3 - how do we know what they died from
#4 - what kinds of things contributed, even if was ebola - type of food eaten or not eaten, contaminated water, parasites, etc
#5 - if they have/had ebola - what was their treatment - did their treatment kill them?
#6 - are they being sprayed upon to kill them for some reason.
There are too many unanswered questions related to Africa.

There is no evidence so far - that dogs carry the Ebola virus.
The study says:

"Neither Ebola virus antigens nor nucleotide sequences (which means no parts of a virus) were detected in any of the positive or negative dog blood samples. We also failed to isolate the virus from 3 positive and 3 negative samples on VeroE6 cells."

and

"No circulating Ebola antigens or viral DNA sequences (tested by PCR) were detected in either positive or negative serum specimens, and attempts to isolate virus from these samples failed. "
It explains no such thing.
The study finds that dogs make gamma G globulins if they live in Ebola areas.
That is like saying humans make flu antibodies if they are near people with flu. SO what?
It is not the same as being a "typhoid Mary" as that requires LIVE virus - not just antibodies.
Antibodies are NOT evidence of carrying the virus.

What the study suggests is that DURING an outbreak, dogs MIGHT carry virus. BUt THEY found none.
But in this study they found zero viral DNA and ZERO virus material of any kind.
They found antibodies only.

One needs to read it very carefully.
The smart thing would be to test dogs NOW in an Ebola area, to see if they actually carry the virus during an outbreak. ANd to study humans to see if they also make antibodies just from living in an Ebola area - maybe that is how half do not die.

In this test - AFTER an outbreak - as when this study was done - the dogs have no sign of actual virus, so they are NOT carriers. They CANNOT infect anyone.
A true carrier has actual virus present, which can then be passed to someone else to cause illness.
They tested a lot of dogs and not one had any evidence of virus - by the latest amplified PCR technique which will find it if it is there.

If the dogs actually got Ebola (as opposed to just being exposed) and got sick and recovered with no symptoms they need to prove that by finding actual virus in a dog.

They need to test dogs for actual virus - not antibodies - during an outbreak - to prove one way or another if they can carry (and thus transmit) actual virus. SO far, there is no virus in any tested dog. I wonder if they did a PCR on that poor dog they just killed (belonging to the guy who died in USA of Ebola today) or if they just murdered it unthinkingly. THAT dog could have answered the real question.

So far we know that chimpanzees, monkeys and duikers (a small antelope type) get sick from Ebola and humans get it from dead ones.
Meanwhile the current epidemic is at three and a half thousand deaths and increasing at an exponetially increasing rate. It is no minor outbreak, and clearly NOT under control.

But they bark too loud, so they are being killed if they come near an Ebola so-called victim.
