As I recall, not only did this guy steal money, but he also did not do the studies.

So, if memory serves correctly, I have problems with this article even suggesting his ‘studies’ had validity.
He just wrote fiction and sent it in.

That's a really odd story. Hard to imagine someone who'd taken the time to become actually *qualified* for that sort of work, being inclined to stoop so low. And if he wasn't qualified, how did the CDC decide to fund him that way? Bizarre on so many levels.
