Such a typical problem after surgery, especially in the abdominal region.

Make sure she is getting enought Vit D3, Vit C (megadoses) and a very good probiotic. That often
ameliorates the problem, especially as being in the hospital is stressor itself, the food is designed
to keep you sick and will affect the digestive track. The drugs and surgery are additional issues.

She was most likely given Dilaudid (synthetic heroine) or something akin to it for pain post surgery.
That is most likely what is causing her constipation. Ask her if her records indicate that.
In addition to her overall picture look at remedies under constipation from abuse of drugs.

[RECTUM - CONSTIPATION] - drugs, after abuse of: (11) agar., ant-c., Bry., chin., COLOC., Hydr., lach., NUX-V., Op., ruta, sulph.

Best,
Lynn
