And another from me. What does anyone see in this one. I did prescribe but
it did nothing!!

Regards,
Rochelle

This 55 yr. old woman presented as an average sized woman with blond hair
(apparently dyed as it used to be dark), greenish eyes, smartly dressed in
green. She works as a dental receptionist . She sat holding her arms folded
across her chest most of the time. She has a son age 23 who lives at home
and a daughter 29 who is married.

Presenting complaint is IBS, which started 5 years ago around her 50th
birthday. When it started her daughter and husband were moving house and
they live down the road. There was an Aunt and Uncle who she used to look
after before she went to work and eventually got them into a nursing home
and she had to empty the house. She had a cousin staying which was stressful
. She was only meant to be staying a week or 2 but stayed 6 months until she
wanted the room back for her daughter and husband before they moved. This
cousin watched she wanted on the TV and had a load of furniture in her room.

Started taking Fibrogel, which made her go more. Stool in evening about 3
times.

She loves milk - Could only cut it out for one day when she tried!! Thinks
it was doing her good to cut out wheat but is back on it now and no
difference.

Agg tomato, nuts, sweetcorn, cabbage, strawberries, spicy, oranges ,
raspberries.

SRP - no flatulence.***

Stool - very loose and feels as if not finished. It can be of variable
consistency but is usually in strings. Smell - putrid and the nearest in the
rep was odour of cheese. After stool she sits there, as she knows there is
more to come. Splutter soft stool thin. Years ago used to be constipated.
Although has had the diarrhoea she hasn't had a stool for the last 2 days
and feels better for it.

Epilepsy - takes Epilim. This started age 28 after she finished breast
feeding her first child. She had 3 fits and then was put on Phenobarbitone
for 3 years. 12 years ago she had another do and yet another 6 months later
and was put on Epilim. She gets no aura. She had a scan 4 years ago . All
fits have been at home except the first that was in the car. They mainly
happen in bed and she gets a headache after.

"I am easy going although my son would not say so because I am always on at
him. I am not a particularly confident person. I am no good at getting u[p
in a room full of people and talking. I enjoy life. I belong to a church and
am the secretary of a group. I get very emotional if I talk in public and
feel as if I want to burst into tears. (Her voice went shaky.) I used to
worry a lot about everything. I do put other people first and am not very
good at saying no. I am always on the go. I have no problem sleeping. We go
to bed late at about 12 or one and I am not a morning person."

Anger - "I shout if something is not done in the house but I would never
show my anger. I get angry if something hasn't been done fairly."

Upset - "from people is there is something emotional on TV or anything to do
with the family."

" I am not good at going into a room full of people. It is embarrassment at
not knowing who to talk to or to go to. It is to do with getting into
conversation with people. To outsiders I wouldn't be bossy but I have strong
opinions at home."

Thirst - not thirsty.

Consolation - agg as she doesn't like showing emotion.

Company - doesn't mind own company but likes friends as well.

Headache - when tired, in the morning over forehead and eyes.

Happy - being with the family and she enjoys work. Loves gardening and
walking.

Environment - prefer town and country

Temperature - loves the sun but is chilly.

Food - loves milk, roast dinner, and eggs. Takes too much salt but likes
sweet things as well.

Fears - "I'm not afraid of dying. Doesn't like putting eyes under the water
when swimming.

Sweat - no

Teeth - poor wears dentures

Menses = She went on HRT for 8 years at age 39 and came off it 6 years ago.
She hasn't had a period since.

Childhood - only child - father was a chauffeur and mother did housework.
Happy and didn't go without.

Very tidy.

Dreams -none reported

Has had carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hi Rochelle, I take it the bowel problem is her main complaint. I would
concentrate on that initially, rather in the way you would treat an acute
infection. Did the Fibrogel start the bowel complaint? If so, what is it
EXACTLY? Also, I was wondering about a diagnosis - I find that sometimes
helps
head me in the direction of remedies I may not have otherwise considered.
So far, with the strings which are presumably mucous, Kali bich.or similar
bowel/mucous remedy may be worth considering.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your reply. Yes the presenting Complaint is IBS - Irritable Bowel
Syndrome and that is the allopathic diagnosis. The Fybogel was not the
cause. Fybogel is ispaghula husks in a pleasant tasting granular form when
mixed with liquid.
It is interesting you saying treat just these symptoms as I have never had
any success doing that. I find that a constitutional which may include some
of these symptoms works the best. There is no mucus that I am aware of.

Don't worry Anthony that one is in my rep it was just that because this
rubric is so large I was trying to elicit a more descriptive smell so I read
out the odours from CaraPro and the nearest she could relate to was the
odour of cheese - Bry 3 Hep 3 and Sanic 2. Now I know nothing about the
latter offhand so am going to research it and see if any more symptoms are
present in the provings that are relevant to her.

Hi Rochelle,
some
The best chance of success is, of course, the totality of symptoms (as
taught by Hahnemann, and Boenninghausen.) The idea of constitution that
we're all taught can cloud what is, in essence, a straight forward process
of symptom matching.

Sometimes the list of material ends up being very long (due to casetaking
style) and
includes lots of irrelevant factors that are not really symptomatology. If
one shaves off these one then ends up with a proper symptom picture. It
would be good to do this with this case.

I thought that's what the stringy stuff could be (not rare in disturbed
bowels.)

By the way, what was it that didn't work?

Hi Rochelle,

Your observation corresponds with mine. I observed
that even when we give the near-enoughicum, it establishes
free passage of flatus and with simulteneous relief of
diarr. Strangely this rubric is not found in any other reps
excepting in Phatak and he mentions:
Flatus passing up & down Amel: arg-n(2), graph;
kali-c; sang(3); verat. To this are to be added grat
ferr-ars; and med as per my experience with these.

Your case looks like cupr or one of its
salts(preferably-ars).

with best wishes,
V.T.Yekkirala.
