Things might be looking up . . .

Post by Roger B »

Dear Minutus,

Things might be looking up, slightly.

For about 100 year we have been struggling under a paradigm regime called "evidence based" medicine, or at least that is what they call it, even though it isn't evidence based. It is really pharmaceutically oriented materialistic, reductionistic evidence based medicine.

With this perspective, doctor's prescribing cholesterol lower drugs makes perfect sense.

And new trend seems to be what is called functional medicine. With this perspective, the doctor asks himself what is the function of LDL and HDL. When he gets an answer to that question he is not going prescribe "cholesterol" or LDL lower drugs. He is going to wonder why the liver is working so hard to repair some as yet unknown damage somewhere in the body and will probably prescribe Vitamin C and other dietary improvement.

Of course, money and hurry-hurry may corrupt functional medicine and it will become pharmaceutically oriented materialistic, reductionistic functional medicine.

Roger
