Re: How I explained homeopathy to others...

I used to tell as much as I could about taking remedies and how they tweaked
the immune system cause it wasn't doing it's job and I'd go into how Hahneman
took quinine and what happened to him and how that related to the beginning of
homeopathy, as in proving symptoms and then later finding a remedy that was
similar to a person's own symptoms. And how they had these books with
everything written down about all the different remedies. I 'd go on and on
and tell them about aggravations and by the time I was finished the person was
sure they never wanted to ever take a remedy.
About 35 years ago I was talking about homeopathy to a friend and he asked if
I could please quit talking about that subject. I told another friend what
this friend said and she said, "I wish i'd had the nerve to tell you that". I
found that quite humorous and it didn't really stop me except with those two.
But slowly I learned to not mention aggravations though sometimes without
thinking I would blurt it out. After some years I started doing massage and
every once in a while I'd ask questions about some long time ailment and other
times I'd tell them a little about homeopathy without giving any
explanations. I would tell them about things that were cured with homeopathy
and then one day when I felt I had enough information I would ask them if they
wanted to try a particular remedy and two clients were cured of their ailment
and eventually didn't need massages anymore, one of spasms in their back and
the other from bursitis in their arm. . I lost some income. Oh, well.
So definitions...even the common one sentence definition doesn't work for me.
If someone showed interest I would give that definition but then I'd probably
alienate them by giving any more explainations. But i'm not a practicing
homeopath(for money) but the whole subject fascinates me. Thus, I would say
that homeopathy is the art of giving a diluted and succussed remedy that
causes certain temporary symptoms in a healthy person but when given to
someone with similar symptoms to that remedy stimulates the immune system of
that person to wake up and go to work correcting the fake disease as if it
were a natural enemy, thereby getting rid of the original dis-ease. Then I'd
want to talk about what method is used to arrive at the correct remedy:
location, modalities, sensations and concomitants. Then I'd want to give
examples of modalities and sensations and concomitants...and what is a
concomitant and by then the person would have fallen asleep.
