Dog after entropion surgery

I'm hoping someone with experience with eye surgery can recommend a remedy to bring down the swelling and facilitate healing on my dog that underwent entropion surgery because his upper lid had curled until his lashes were lying on the cornea.
Unfortunately, he has been put under three times in two weeks since the first time they did the lower lids in error and on his release the next day they failed to put on an e-collar and he ripped his stitches and had to be put under again..

I was going to wait until the bottom lids healed before I put him through that again, but he was in danger of losing his eye due to the ulcer that formed where his lashes scraped the cornea.

His lower lids are a mess and may never lose the sagging, the upper lids look okay but both upper and lower are very swollen and a little runny.

I hope there are a few people on the list that have treated animals or human patients after they have undergone eye surgery and can suggest some remedies.

Thanks,
Diane

I used hypericum and arnica on myself after eyelid surgery, and had no pain and rapid healing, amazing my doctors. I would not hesitate to use the same on my dogs. Can you use some cold packs on him? Poor baby; this negligence is inexcusable:(

Thank you Ginny,
I will start on that right away. Not sure he will let me put cold packs on but will give it a try when I have another set of hands to help.
I'm so glad you told me this without judgement as I have been berated on another list that I didn't treat the entropion homeopathically. I was also told surgery was not a cure and that it will definitely come back until I "understand how health is achieved."
again, thanks for your advice.
Diane

Diane, I certainly appreciate your situation. The entropion is part of his overall systemic picture, no doubt. But of course homeopathy treats on a totality of symptoms, of which this is only one. In any case, we do what we must as we see it, and then we just go on from there. I would hope you can work with a good homeopath to slowly and conservatively restore healthy function, and then we can see what happens to his eyes. In any case, homeopathic support would make any other procedure much easier and less stressful.

I am no practitioner, but I work with some great ones, and am happy to recommend or advise if you should choose that direction.

The way health is achieved, is by doing what is in the best interests of the specfic indivdual, at the time, in your best judgement - and by *ignoring* those that use "rules" to tell you which way to jump.

Surgery definitely has a place in many instances. Being a homeopath is not about using homeopathy for EVERYthing! It's about havig homeopathy as an option, and knowing when to use it and when not to use it - used only if it is the best current option.

Rules are the worst invention of man.
We need principles, like "doing what's in the best interests..........
- not rules, like "always using homepathy............

Namaste,
Irene
