Minutus

A patient who is abroad with minimal remedies was stung by a wasp yesterday on her arm. She has been stung recently before but with no problems. Today the site has swollen to the size of a tennis ball and is hot, hard and red. We have tried Apis 30 – dosing every hour in water. In desperation have tried Ledum. Really not a clue now as it sounds like Apis but this is not working- any suggestions please

APIS: This medicine is good for red, inflamed insect bites from which children experience burning or stinging pain that is worse by heat or warm applications and relieved by cold or cool applications.

Hypericum: If children develop sharp or shooting pains from a bite or sting, consider this remedy.

LEDUM: This is the most common medicine for itching bites or stings from mosquitoes, bees, wasps, spiders, and rats. The itching from the bite or sting is relieved by cold applications and is sensitive to touch.

Staphysagria: When mosquito or other insect bites itch excessively or become large welts, this medicine should be given.

Thanks Sheri – as I said Apis is indicated !! Have told her to take a Hepar in case it has become infected. She has not mentioned itching.

maybe her remedies were affected by travel............maybe needs higher potency.

There was a lovely write-up in a book, by… hm, Elaine somebody, describing her wasp experience. Was stung, had no remedies available, got the/a wasp and put it (squeamish alert) into blender with water, buzzed it will, then ran that up to I think 6x, and it worked very well.

Since she's already tried the others… ?

She lives abroad some of the time and am pleased to say that the Hepar she has now taken 2 doses an hour apart is definitely doing the trick!!

I've found that stings that don't respond to Apis often respond to Lachesis.

Interesting as that is her constitutional Rx but I reckoned the area would have to be mottled rather than red. Anyway it seems to have responded to Hepar so must have been infected.

Try 200c. I found it worked to clear a wasp still on the forehead. 30c was used to minimal effect.
