I believe that many, perhaps most, perhaps all microbial diseases are the physical manifestations of transcendental "problems" and that the microbes are merely physical representations or counterparts to the etheric disease. The etheric disease could be anything from a demonic spirit to a non-sentient "mal aire" of the etheric sort.

This is akin to those who say that the terrain is the problem, and that the germ is nothing. A bad enough diet will cause resident evil (ah, a movie title) or microbes to gain a foot hold and harm the person further.

In 100 years everyone who reads this will know that I am correct on this matter. (:->)
