Jung and homeopathy

Post by Carol Orr »

Remember the story in one of Jung's books, maybe his autobiography, about the
man in the village whom everyone loved and in a nutshell Jung couldn't
understand why this man had no shadow and eventually he met the man's wife and
she turned out to be a complete shrew and Jung then realised that the wife was
carrying the husband's shadow qualities. So the question is if you gave the
wife the remedy that the husband actually needed....since there was such a
close energetic connection...would the husband be healed? And what would
happen to the wife?

What would be the man's symptoms -- what would we be treating?

I have a general memory of a case of a young boy. His mother dutifully brought
him for his follow ups and gave the remedies as directed with no positive results.
One day the boy’s father brought him in and he was asked some questions about
the situation. The practitioner figured out the man’s remedy and gave it to the boy
with great success.
Another favorite story is of one of my cats years ago. I have been struggling to find
a remedy for her. The other cats were treated fine, but not this one. At the time I
was given a constitutional and it was having a good effect on me. MY cat was like
my mother cat: she would get on me and sink into my chest and do nurturing things
to me as she would her kittens. My remedy seemed to heal her rapidly.
I think energy passes between people and can be taken up them mutually. Our
animals demonstrate this quite frequently.

Very interesting . .how would Jung know what the man's shadow was if he didn't have one? And just what is a shadow? Is it the usual pathology of a constitutional polycrest, or in Jungian terms, the expected negative qaulities of an archetype?
