Vertigo on a dog

Hi Everyone,
I need alittle help here. I have never treated an animal before.
This is what I was given.
The dog has sever vertigo. Its head always leans to the right. There is
nausea with the vertigo. He falls to the right and his legs are unsteady.
He was diagnosed with a middle ear infection but nothing has helped
allopathically.
He dribbles urine during the day but at night he has a normal stream. The
urine is dark yellow in color and has a strong odor like first morning
urine. The dog is drooling also. He has had problems with ulcers and
previously arthritis in his right hip which usually causes him to limp. I
have come up with Phos and Calc but am not feeling very comfortable with a 4
legged friend.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Donna

HI Donna,

Has the thought of Vestibular Syndrome been entertained? How old is this dog? How long has he had this condition? Has he had any recent vaccinations? Falling to the right is but one indication for Causticum and Aconite, other symptoms can help to complete the picture. Does he try to circle to the right also? I have often found Causticum useful in Vestibular Syndrome and there is the bladder dysfunction. Think too of Gelsemium with the loss of bladder function, perhaps the mouth drooling is associated with some facial nerve paralysis..another indication for Gelsemium (and others). Is he a trembly nervous dog? Is he like this all the time or does it come in spasmodic attacks (fits?). The excess salivation and HO ulcers may lean to Mercurius. So already a few possibilities with the limited symptoms provided

Has this happened since a certain event, accident, grief etc? What are the dog's eating and drinking habits, times of day/night may be > or or < in general, what is the condition of skin/coat like, any discharges..ears, eyes, nose etc,
any unusual habits/idiosyncrasies, weather associations, prefers company or not, how responds to touch/pressure, sleeping position, what is his disposition, how is the heart, temperature, respiratory etc????

Just a few thoughts to help you sift for some more info.

Cheerz, Tan.

Dear Donna
Take a look at repertory of Boeninghausen ,You will find these two rubrics:
1-Vertigo fall tendency to right
2-Micturition, strangury
You can only find EUPHRBIUM under both of the above mentioned rubric.
