Agree with most of these concepts. It's been obvious that food and drink have not been an issue by treating animals by way of the remedy inside of cheese, food, etc. and also children in formula. I have always had good effects not worrying about food or drink and just recommend it's fine as long as it isn't a huge rich meal with loads of spices, much heavy alcohol, etc. Common sense things.
But that is very different than introducing known homeopathic antidotes especially into the actual dosing. I've seen coffee antidote after much improvement time both directly and through mother's milk. It's still valuable to heed staying away from coffee (including decaf), eucalyptus, menthol, camphor, strong mint, tea tree and electric blankets while healing is underway. Then when dental work is done it's wise to dose around that. There should also be consideration of specific antidotes to certain remedies being introduced.
Yes sometimes LM's or repeated watery C's can working around those who cannot give up the coffee right away, and those on a lot of allopathic medication.

Dear All
Tam is right. I think if the remedy & potency choice is correct not a lot will affect it.
However, a remedy can only be regarded as 'homeopathic' if it produces the right reactions in the patient.
I would dare to say that with a lot of homeopaths, their choice may not be the Similimum but perhaps a remedy near to it.
Here we are vulnerable to the remedy being easily antidoted. Therefore knowing the range of the potential antidoting substances, the safest course is to ask the patient to avoid them.
Once the patient is showing signs of improvement and the desired effects - i.e. you now know that the correct remedy has been prescribed you can introduce things like coffee etc.
If the remedy become antidoted fairly quickly, then a lot of vital information is lost and the homeopath may be led to believe that his choice of remedy was wrong.
Remedies can be antidoted by strong allopathic drugs also. I had a case of a lady to whom I prescribed Nat-m. She had arthritis and described the reaction as like "water on fire". However, when she took her next weekly dose of anti arthritic medication, Methotrexate, pains came back very quickly. Of course the next dose resolved the problem.
Hahnemann's perfected method - the use LM or Q potencies - also helps with the problem of antidoting.

I think experience tells us that nothing is fixed in this regard.
I have seen coffee, even coffee ice cream antidote remedies, but
others report no problem.

And there are all these wonderful reports of homeopathic remedies working just great under all sorts of "non-standard" dosing methods - JW had given us a lovely bunch, including
- pellets dropped into the child's bathwater
- administered as eardrops
- in hot coffee
All of those worked great.
- My cow got her dose "in spite of herself" when she sniffed into a bucket of remedy-medicated hay, then stalked off without eating any.
- I used to dose my kids by putting a pellet into their bottle (because if I gave them the pills directly, they would beg to finish the entire bottle)
- I dose my cats by putting it into a tsp of cream. (Tho from Irene's reports, I should just use water, and they will drink it if it's the right one.)
And, the legions of people who either didn't take seriously or just weren't very good at following the directions about "not eating", and yet the remedies work.
I assume that *sometimes* it makes a difference; some foods, some circumstances. I would love to understand the issues better.
Roger – Irene is not the only person that feels this way. When I was at college I remember the story from Subrata Banerjea who runs a very classical homeopathic college here in the UK (Allen) . He told us that he gave a remedy to patient in Calcutta who chewed Betel leaf all the time. He told her to take the remedy and not chew it before or after. He didn’t see her again for a year when she returned and said could she have some more of the marvellous remedy that worked for her. He asked how she took the remedy and she said that she chewed it with her Betel leaf. After that he stopped bothering telling people not to eat or drink before and after the remedy
(The Betel (Piper betle) is the leaf of a vine belonging to the Piperaceae family, which includes pepper and kava)- has this leaf ever been proved?

Dear Irene,
I think that you said that if the remedy is right on, then it doesn't matter if one eats immediately before or after taking the remedy. If your saying this is correct, then . . . .
Why are you at variance with all of the other homeopaths I know on this matter?
Would this be a way to testing whether the remedy was correct?
Sincerely,
Roger Bird
