While addressing the audience of a skeptopath about something that the skeptopath may have said, remind the audience, if it is appropriate, that no doctor or brain surgeon has ever seen the consciousness of their patient while they were rummaging around inside of a person's body, that we cannot see consciousness with a microscope. {And they never will.} There are many things that cannot be seen objectively but which are incredibly important and real, such as love, justice, ideas, feelings, and most especially consciousness itself. Don't use the word "soul", unless you are addressing a church group. Otherwise you will just be giving ammunition to the enemy.
I call them the enemy because I do not think that they will ever be converted to anything spiritual until they have a near death experience or an end of life experience. And the reason that I try not to converse directly with them is that I come away from the argument wishing that they would have an end of life experience and finding that I have a need for taking a shower. I had an acquaintance once who said that he did not believe in anything unless he could hit it with a hammer. Over time I learned to despise him for the mean spirited things that he did to me.
