Looks like the syphiitic miasm is spreading from NYC to Paris aka gay Paree!
La Vie d'Adele - Chapitre 1 & 2 wins the prestigious Palme d'Or, one of the most coveted film awards after the Oscars.
The three-hour film caught headlines for its long, graphic sex scenes, but bewitched festival goers with its heartbreaking coming of age story.
"Life of Adele", which premiered at Cannes just days after France legalised gay marriage, was hailed as a landmark film for its intimate portrait of a same-sex relationship.
But its victory came the same day as tens of thousands of protesters marched against the new law in Paris and police clashed with some demonstrators.
Jury member Cristian Mungiu, the Romanian director, said current events had no bearing on the decision. "We were giving awards to cinema, not for political statements," he said.
"The film had a beautiful French youth that I discovered during the long time filming the movie. It taught me a lot about the spirit of freedom."
