Speech problems in 2 yr. old

I saw a bright 2 year old today who obviously understands everything that is said to him . His speech is poor because he cannot say the hard consonants e.g. Car comes out as “ar” and Yellow “erer”. He can say Mum. He has been to a speech therapist who sent him for a hearing assessment. This showed reduced hearing caused by fluid in the middle ear which also affected his Eustachian tube. I noticed he seemed to be a mouth breather BUT was NOT a thirsty child . He likes dry food and ate 2 dry cream crackers in front of me. He dislikes food in a sauce. Other than that there is nothing wrong with him, healthy (but vaccinated) child who has never had an antibiotic and only problem was a lot of sticky eyes in the first year. Mum reckons he gets blocked up nose with a yellow thick discharge.
I am treating this as a one sided case and given Kali Mur 6 liquid potency (because he refused to keep a pillule in his mouth) , 2 drops 3x a day.
Is there a rubric for fluid in the middle ear as I can’t find one!!
Thanks
