vomiting baby
vomiting baby
4 month old baby born 5 weeks prem- was in respiratory distress and kept in special unit for 2 weeks. He is purely breast fed. He looks fine but has always vomited after his feeds. He throws up every hour. He has to feed frequently because he gets hungry because of the vomiting. Docs say it is caused by reflux from the cardiac sphincter so this is not pyloric stenosis. He get very bad colic as well – aching backwards. Discora 30 helped at first but not anymore. <6-9pm. Lots of flatus smell of sulphur. He has a stool every 3 -4 days which is explosive. Doesn’t like to be constrained and is a wriggler. Mum reckons he is greedy with no on off button because she reckons they force-fed him in hospital to get his weight up. Sucking on a dummy seems to help the colic. Likes to bury his head in Mum. Not clingy.
Not having a clue what to give as nothing was coming out at me I gave Aeth 30. He is now vomiting more and his stool is green which to me means not having enough food.
Any suggestions gratefully received!!
Thanks

I took her case at the same time!! She eats a healthy diet, desires salad and avers crap junk food. Drinks a lot of tea. She has a degree in herbal medicine. She has tried a dairy free diet as she thinks that maybe he is better from it. She has a lot of family stress , just moved in a new home with her children and her partner’s children part time!!
What are your thoughts ?
Thanks

Sounds like a parasitic infestation. Try Olive Leaf Extract.

It’s reflux she was told because the cardiac sphincter isn’t working properly. In my herbal training I was told not to give herbal remedies to <2 year olds!!

Gluten and dairy in the mother's milk.

Re: vomiting baby
So mum's take that he is "greedy" is off, and that's interesting.
Is Carcinosin plausible?
For a palliative, see if mum can go to as allergen-restricted a diet as possible, see if he is reacting to things she is eating?

Re: vomiting baby
Healthy diet can still include allergens… So maybe avoiding milk helps, can she also try avoiding e.g. wheat, soy, corn… what else… Maybe have her also avoid tea temporarily, just because IMO anything a person eats a *lot* of, is one of the first places to look for allergens (for her or the baby).

Re: vomiting baby
I agree. The most common child sensitivities I see are gluten dairy soy and corn
In that order.

Re: vomiting baby
so there is damage to the cardiac sphincter due to damage from forced tubular feeding.
why not deal with the problem as an acute injury and then go on to more constitutional remedies.
maybe arnica or bellis perennis to begin with for injury or some other remedy that you might
find more appropriate.
