Action Alert-ACCC threatens freedom of speech

Action Alert: Court action by the ACCC Threatens Us All
This is a wake-up call!
Last night, I posted an urgent alert on our nocompulsoryvaccination blog about an emerging situation which you may or may not be aware of. (note: if you don't already, please subscribe to email alerts on the blog by clicking the link on the upper right hand side of the page under the words "Follow Blog via Email")
It is vital that we do not sit on our hands but take action immediately.
In a nutshell (click here to read the entire article ), Fran Sheffield of Homeopathy Plus has been taken to the Federal Court by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) because she has information on her website regarding the whooping cough vaccine which contradicts the government and medical industry mantra on this shot. Despite the fact that this information is far from controversial and is, in fact, supported by referenced material, she has been given an ultimatum - give in and remove all of this vaccination information or pay huge fines and the court costs of the ACCC.
The AVN believes that this is not just a threat to Ms Sheffield - it is an attempt to stifle debate, suppress our freedom of communication and shut down those 'pesky' natural therapists who question the medical orthodoxy.
Ms Sheffield will need to raise at least $50,000 to fund this case and also needs the urgent assistance of a solicitor (she has obtained the pro-bono help of a barrister but he needs an instructing solicitor) by Friday this week at the latest.
Below is the information on how to donate - we would like to ask all health professionals to donate $50 and all others who support freedom of choice to give what you can.
This is a landmark case and if Ms Sheffield loses, the implications could be terrible for all of us so please, give what you can NOW and pass this information around your email lists and to your friends and family. You can either forward via your email program or use the link below.

The AVN is asking everyone to donate to this cause. If everyone gives a little (and if all natural therapists give at least $50), this case can be successful in setting a positive precedent that will protect us all. If we don't support Fran Sheffield in her efforts on behalf of freedom of communication and freedom of choice, the Federal Government will have made a statement about their ability to control us in the most basic of ways by preventing us from speaking or choosing healthcare options they do not approve of. Again, help is needed now so please don't delay. Donations will be going directly to the Fighting Fund for Fran Sheffield's and Homeopathy Plus' case against the ACCC - not to the AVN.
Quick update - proposed Human Rights Legislation
The AVN recently sent out an action alert regarding proposed changes to federal human rights legislation which it was felt could restrict our right to freedom of choice on health issues.
Many of our members wrote to the politicians we requested you to contact and for that, we thank you though sadly, we have not had the time to respond to each one of you individually.
Several members have forwarded a response from Senator Penny Wright of the Australian Greens, claiming that the legislation, as it is written, does not relate to "broader human rights issues.", and that the issues raised [regarding the right to free and informed health choices] "don't fall within the remit of the consolidation process or the inquiry into the Bill."
According to Judy Wilyman:
"...this response is incorrect. Our issue is very much in the remit of this bill and I have forwarded this response to the Human Rights Commission for a comment."
We will endeavour to keep you all informed about any future updates regarding the efforts to restrict our rights both here in Australia and overseas (since these efforts appear to be part of an international campaign to force all of us to stop using or speaking about natural therapies or vaccine and pharmaceutical drug risks) and urge you to bookmark Judy Wilyman's website, Vaccine Decisions , and signing up for her free newsletter to be the first to find out about these and other issues of health rights and freedom of choice.
In the meantime, you may wish to write to Penny Wright via her assistant, Emma Gorman, yourself and ask her to clarify why she feels that this legislation does not relate to our ability to make free health choices - especially considering the fact that the TGA and other health bodies were specifically excluded from adherence with the regulations. While you are at it, why not ask Senator Wright for a copy of the Green's policy on vaccination and specifically request her to clarify whether her party supports the freedom to opt out of vaccination for children, health professionals and other Australians and what their stand is on the use of natural therapies for treatment and prevention.
