Two points:
1. Isaac Golden has done HP with nosodes for over 20 years and to thousands of children: show me the problems, show me the corpses......on the contrary he has clearly demonstrated that HP children are a lot healthier than others, and he is not faking his results.
2. I N D I V I D U A L I S A T I O N is also valid for how each and every person has his/her/its immune system working, and we have no way to evaluate it.
Can I bother you again with personal experiences?
Heavily vaccinated as a child and apparently no bad reaction. Smallpox vaccination before traveling as a young teen, huge local reaction (3 times), then nothing until an internship in pediatrics: one morning I woke up with each and every single lymph node in my body swollen, but no general symptoms, so I go to the ward, showing that to the pediatrician who freaks out and sends me home after taking blood tests; by that time I was worried I had a sudden onset of Hodgkin's or some other horrific cancer; then I started feeling lousy and feverish, so I felt better, it was probably just viral....it was parainfluenza B, generally totally benign; go figure why I got it and why I created symptoms....anyway, that got me a few days off.
Then had to have repeated BCG (had it in school) for hospital work, nevertheless, despite the repeated injections, my Mantoux is still negative. No active or passive tuberculosis despite exposure to patients.
Later on in surgical specialisation, I was requested to have Hepatitis B vaccination as I was constantly in contact with blood and secretions. Not being completely stupid, I first checked for antibodies: nil; first injection, antibodies nil, not unexpected; second one, nil, hmmmm; third one, still nothing but by then I was administratively and "legally" "fully protected"....but I decided that having gone that far I would repeat the series; you guessed it, after 6 injections, no antibodies; fast forward, blood tests before NZ immigration, still nothing (and no HIV) despite having worked in ERs and surgery in Africa in endemic regions.
I sailed through a few bad epidemics (Mycoplasma, flus....) but succumbed to 2 of them, one overseas and one while taking a class in Wellington, realised afterwards that it was the famous bird flu....
So: totally random but my infections are never very serious, feels more like a kind of a "boot camp" when my immune system decides I need it....I seem to have good genetics, and I take good care of myself, so personally and for my family, I did not use any HP with the exception of meningitis B for the kids as it keeps creeping up here and it kills in a few hours.
I spend a lot of time with patients who ask, explaining about vaccines, HP, general health etc,..... but then I have to abide by the parent's wishes. Yes many are scared. I do trust Isaac and his statistical results, I am not worried at all by "too many nosodes" so I do use HP and I do not theorise on "baseless fear".
Joe.
