Hello Janaki,
Acute diseases and chronic diseases must be individualized by the
sensitivity of the patient and the nature of the disease state. This comes
first. In general, acute diseases are fast in their onset and reach crisis
quickly. Many acute diseases are cured with a single dose of the C or LM
potency. There are virulent acute that sometimes call for a fast repetition
of the remedy until a progressive improvement starts. If the improvement is
strikingly progressive the remedy should not be repeated. If the
improvement is slowly progressive the remedy should be repeated at
suitable intervals to speed the cure. Nevertheless, the remedy needs to be
slowed down as the patient improves to prevent over medication. Virulent
acute diseases heading for rapid pathology sometimes need LM potencies
higher than 0/1, 0/2 etc., or Cs like 30c, 200c.
Chronic Diseases are more slow and insidious in their onsets and reach
crisis at longer periods. For this reason, one rarely needs to repeat a
chronic remedy as often as an acute remedy. Everything depends sensitivity
of the patient and the nature of the disease state. The same rules apply.
Any strikingly progressive improvement on a single dose or a short test
series of doses is a sign that the remedy should not be repeated. In slowly
progressive improvements one can repeat the remedy at suitable intervals.
What those suitable intervals are should be related to the circumstances.
It is always better to be on the conservative side of the equation then
over medicate patients. There is nothing wrong with waiting a little bit
longer if they are doing ok.
Sincerely, David Little
